The newcomer to the meeting said, “Yeah, I’d like a way for user-added content on the web site to be pushed from the web into our print publishing system….”
Later he mentioned since they didn’t have a Sunday print publication he’d like to see a Sunday web-only “publication”.
Huh. Feasibility issue aside, I wondered who this forward thinker was. Such attitudes were rare (if not non-existent) in the newspaper industry only two years ago. After the meeting was over I quietly asked someone, “Who was that guy?”
“The publisher.”
Change is coming.
